The first feeling of summer – sun on your skin, salt in your hair and a breath of freedom. Summer is here and brings with it a new beauty challenge: how do you keep your manicure intact amidst the sea, sand and sun?;
A summer manicure isn't just an aesthetic choice, it's a statement. Your nails need to last as long as your sunscreen, and luckily, there are ways to keep them as glossy as day one.

The right start is made on the nail salon
Before you pack for the island or check in to the sunbed, book your appointment for a fresh manicure. I recommend getting it done at least 48 hours before you travel – this gives the material the time it needs to «lock» onto the nail without being affected by humidity or heat.
If you love gel or semi-permanent, choose pastel or nude shades that don't show damage easily. Not only do they give a "cleaner" result, but they also hide minor damage that may occur during the holidays. If, on the other hand, you insist on bold, neon colors – go for it, but with the appropriate care.

Sun, salt, sand: the "enemies" of manicure
Let's face it: the beach isn't the most nail-friendly destination. The sand acts as a natural exfoliator, the seawater dehydrates the skin, and the chlorine in the pool eats away at the top coat. But with proper care, all of these can be transformed from threats to peaceful...memories.
Rule number one: sunscreen on your hands too. UV rays can cause nail polish to yellow or fade, especially if you're wearing white or pastel shades. Make sure to apply a small amount of sunscreen to your fingers too – yes, even if it seems excessive.
Second rule: moisturize everywhere. A mini cuticle oil (like jojoba or argan oil) is a must-have in your beach bag. Apply a few drops after swimming and your hands will maintain their silky texture.
Third and most important: use your hands, not your nails. We're not opening cans, we're not peeling off stickers, we're not digging in the sand. A "snap" of gel is the only thing you don't want on your vacation.

After the beach: aftercare nail's goddess
When you return from the beach, the first thing you should do, before you even open the fridge for frozen watermelon, is to rinse your hands thoroughly with clean water. Sand and salt may seem harmless, but they gradually erode the top coat.
Every 2-3 days, refresh the shine with a clear top coat, as there are also versions suitable for semi-permanent nail polish. This provides a shield of shine and extra protection. Don't forget to apply it to the "end" of the nail, where wear and tear first strikes.
If you see a spot starting to "lift," don't touch it. Pulling can damage your natural nail. Instead, trust your nail technician for a safe repair.

Manicure that accompanies you everywhere
A beach manicure doesn't have to be a compromise – it can be stylish, durable and fashion-forward. Like a good pair of glasses or a classic white shirt, your summer nail look should be part of your signature style.

Besides, there's nothing more chic than holding your cocktail with perfectly polished nails that reflect the sun, without a trace of wear. That's real beauty power!
