The End of "Heroine": Why March 8th Doesn't Need Any More Applause

There is a word that every year, at this time of year, is launched with the frequency of fireworks: «"Heroine"». It accompanies flower cards, commercials for detergents, and status updates that praise the woman who "does it all." The woman who balances between zoom calls and children's parties, who keeps the house standing, her career on track, and her skin flawless.

At The Beauty Project, This year, we decided to refuse the title. Because the designation "heroine" is not a compliment. It is an elegant, verbal prison.

The trap of admiration

When we call a woman a «heroine» for surviving under the weight of ten different roles, we are actually romanticizing her exhaustion. We are telling her «good for enduring the unthinkable» so that we never have to wonder why she has to endure it alone. Admiration is the perfect camouflage for a lack of support.

The silent resignation

The real revolution for 2026 is not about becoming «better» at everything. It is about σpolite resignation. Not from our work or our relationships, but from the narrative of the "superwoman.".

It is the right:

  • Don't be productive every minute of the day.

  • Don't be inspiration for no one, except for yourself at 3 in the afternoon when you just want to stare at the ceiling.

  • To be moderate in some roles, so that you can be alive in your essence.

The deconstruction project

If the «Beauty Project» of the previous decade was how to add layers (of makeup, knowledge, skills), this year’s Project is how to subtract. We remove the expectation of «perfect,» break the mirror that always shows us busy, and reclaim the time that produces nothing.

This year, don't call us heroines. Don't call us inspirations. Give us space, share the burden, and most importantly, allow us the freedom to be nothing you expect.

Because the most beautiful version of a woman is not the one who can endure everything, but the one who no longer needs to prove it.
